PlayAble - Replicate v1.0 $9.95

Replicate is a strategy game (it is not Reversi, but a challenging variant). The basic goal is to fill more spaces with your color than your opponent. As you progress, you will take over parts of the game board while giving up others. The rules are simple. The strategy is hard. The gameplay is addictive.

Getting Started

To Move
The current player's token is shown in the top right of the screen and their current score is immediately below that. To choose your move, first click on one of your existing tokens. Legal spaces for your destination will be highlighted. If you choose a space adjacent to your token, you will Replicate a new token in that spot. If you choose a space that is not adjacent, your token will jump to that spot, abandoning its current spot. If you have no legal moves, click the pass button. You may not pass if you have a legal move. If you click Pass and you have a legal move, it will be shown to you.

Scoring
When you take a space, all adjacent spaces that are occupied by your opponent become yours. Your score will show you how many tokens you own in relation to your opponent. If they have more than you, the number will be less than zero. If you have more, the number will be greater than zero. Zero indicates a current tie.

The Buttons
The top button on the right side will show you the board before the last move for about 3 seconds. The middle button is the Pass button mentioned above. The bottom button will start a new game. The question mark will bring up this help.

New Game
You can choose Easy, Medium, or Hard difficulty for the Computer. This will determine how many moves ahead it considers before choosing its best move. You can set a player to be either a human or a computer. You can set both to human to play a game with a friend, you can play against the computer, and you can even watch the computer play itself.

What Do I Need to Use Replicate?

You need a PDA running PalmOS version 3.0 or above and about 45K of space available for the application. Color and monochrome are both supported by the same file. PDAs that have PalmOS 3.0 or above include all devices made by Palm since the Palm III (1998), all devices from Handspring (including the Treo models), all devices from Sony, all of the Kyocera PalmOS Smart Phones, the TRG Pro, the Handera, all of the IBM Workpad series, the PalmOS based Symbol devices, and the PalmOS based Samsung phones. If you need a PDA or want to upgrade, we have a list of devices that we recommend.

Installing Your Software

To install Replicate on your PDA, follow these instructions:

1. Download the Replicate.zip file by clicking the "Free Trial!" button above or by clicking this link.
2. Save the file Replicate.zip to your desktop.
3. When the download is complete, you should be able to double click the zip file (or compressed folder, depending on your setup) to view the contents of the file.
4. Extract the contents to a temporary area on your desktop PC.
5. Launch the Palm (tm) Desktop software.
6. Click the Install button on the left side of the screen. A dialog box appears.
7. Click the Add button.
8. Choose Replicate.prc from the temporary location where you unzipped it.
9. Perform a HotSync® operation. When you perform a HotSync operation, Replicate is installed automatically. Check the applications menu on your handheld to confirm that the program has been added.
10. You should now be able to delete the contents of the temporary area on your desktop PC.

License & Registration

The unregistered version will bring up a periodic message will appear to remind you to register. You also will not be able to save a game in progress or any high scores with the unregistered version. A license must be purchased by using our Buy Now feature or from Handango.com within 30 days of your first use. To register the application, choose About from the menu and click the Register button. You will need to provide either the Palm User Name as it appears on this screen or the series of numbers separated by dashes for registration. If you provide this information at the time of purchase, an unlock key will be emailed to you. To view a copy of the license (also included in the download file), visit our License Page or you can send an email to brad@HandAble.com for more information. Future versions of the application can be directly installed without the need to re-register.

Updating Your Software

Registered users are entitled to free updates for the life of the product. To upgrade your version at any time, simply download the newest zip file (also available at Handango.com) and install the prc file to your device, same as when you first installed the application. Do not delete the application from your device first or you will destroy your data!
