What Can KnitAble Do and
How Do I Use It?
KnitAble is designed for you to keep track of your personal knitting
inventory. Thus, it does not have any built in data other than common
abbreviations and terms. Enter your information and take it with you on
shopping trips so you never have to try and remember what you already
have again.
When you first start KnitAble, you will see the "Home" page.
All of your databases are on the "Inventory" tab and all of
the calculators and application information can be found on the "Calcs/Info"
tab. Simply tap the tab's title to switch back and forth between the two.
Tapping an icon or title will take you to that section's main page. To
return from one of these main pages, click the
"Home" icon, found in the bottom left corner of the display.
These features can all be found in KnitAble:
- Projects Database
- Measurements Database
- Needles Database
- Abbreviations and Terms Database
- Hooks Database
- Patterns Database
- Books and Magazines Database
- Yarn Database
- Needle Conversion Chart
- Yardage Estimate Calculator
- Buttonhole Spacing Calculator
- Increase/Decrease Calculator
- Metric/English Conversion Calculator

What Do I Need to Use KnitAble?
You need a PDA running PalmOS version 3.0 or above and about 150K of
space available for the application, plus some additional space for your
data (another 100K will be enough for most knitters). PDAs that have PalmOS
3.0 or above include all devices made by Palm since the Palm III (1998),
all devices from Handspring (including the Treo models), all devices from
Sony, all of the Kyocera PalmOS Smart Phones, the TRG Pro, the Handera,
all of the IBM Workpad series, the PalmOS based Symbol devices, and the
PalmOS based Samsung phones. If you need a PDA or want to upgrade, we
have a list of devices that we recommend.

License
& Registration
The unregistered version is limited only to a specific number of uses
(you will not be able to use it beyond 50 uses without entering a registration
key). A periodic message will appear to remind you to register. A license
must be purchased by using our Buy Now feature
within your first 50 uses. To register the application, choose About from
the menu and click the Register button. You will need to provide either
the Palm User Name as it appears on this screen or the series of letters
and numbers separated by colons for registration. If you provide this
information at the time of purchase, an unlock key will be emailed to
you. To view a copy of the license (also included in the download file),
visit our License
Page or you can send an email to brad@HandAble.com
for more information. Future versions of the application may require an
upgrade fee. A cd version is also available at KnittingFairy.com.

Updating Your Software
Future versions may require an upgrade fee. If your purchase was within
6 months of an upgrade that requires a fee, please contact
us. To upgrade your version at any time, simply download
the newest file and install the same way you first installed the application.
Do not delete the application from your desktop first or you
could destroy your data!
Abbreviations and Terms Supplement
KnitAble Version 2.5 and above has the Abbreviations and Terms Supplement
built in. It can be accessed from the "Calcs/Info" page of the
Home screen of KnitAble by touching the "Add Terms" button.
If you want, you can still download the KnitAble
Supplement, but we recommend you simply upgrade to a current version
instead (updates are free). The supplement will add common abbreviations
and terms to your Abbreviations and Terms database without destroying
any you may already have. It is another application that is installed
on your device and can be deleted after you have run it once. Version
1.1 or above of KnitAble is required for the supplement.
